When I purchased my first dash-cam, I was looking for the best low-end option. After reading reviews I picked GS8000L, but I wasn't satisfied. The next step was the middle category. The TaoTronics TT-CD05 is in the middle if we consider the price, but the quality is close to (or at) the high-end cameras (according to the images I saw on the reviews of high-end devices). I don't want to list the features you can see in the product description, I will compare to my old GS8000L instead. Both cameras have 1080 pixels, but this guy looks a real HD. Car Camcorder Gs8000l User Manual. Manual for more details. Hd 1080p Car DVR Vehicle Camera Video Recorder Dash Cam G-sensor. (See my enclosed pictures. The TT-CD05 on the top, the GS8000L on the bottom.) You still need good light and a little luck to actually read the plate numbers, but at least it is possible, unlike with the GS8000L. The difference in the night captures is more significant. (I also attached night time pictures.) For the GS8000L I had to turn off the voice recording because it was so awful. The TT-CD05 has no issue with record the surrounding noises. The conversations and the music in the radio are easily recognizable. The car's background noise is noticeable but not disturbing. I had some other issues with my old camera such as missing recordings, difficulties at sunset/sunrise, but the TaoTronics' camera free of these glitches. It is also a nice bonus that they included a 32MByte SanDisk microSD card. Long story short. If you sick of the extremely bad quality low-end cameras, but don't want to spend a fortune on the high-end devices, this dash-cam can be a good choice. This is my first time owning a dash cam and I am pretty satisfied with it. I like the camera, the video comes out crisp and clear. You can easily identify license plates and people’s faces. It is a bit difficult to view oncoming car plates when viewing the playback. This is a given but if your windshield is not clean your camera will pick up all the dirt/streaks which can make the cars in the video harder to see. The camera can go behind the rear-view mirror if you want (see pictures) but I decided to move it since my toll tag was covering the entire right side view of the camera. I ended putting the camera next to my rear view mirror on the driver’s side (I also have screen saver active so It doesn’t distract me when I am driving). I like having the camera turn on and off automatically so I have the usb cable attached to it. So far I have only tested my camera during the morning/afternoon and it works great. If the sun shine directly onto your camera you will get a glare. If you have a USB plug adapter/charger in your car you can use that instead of the cigarette charger provided. The G-sensor is pretty spot on. If you make any abrupt stops or the car feels some movement like a gust of wind then the camera will immediately put the video in a special folder called RO. Once you run out of space on your SD card the camera will overwrite old video files but the files in RO will remain untouched until you manually delete them. If the camera is off and it feels a sudden movement it will turn on and start recording and put that file in the RO folder. For the most part I didn’t change the default settings on the camera, it is good enough the way it is setup. The default loop is set to 3 min so roughly every 3 min recorded @1080FHD = 289 MB, you get about 110 clips before it starts to re-write old files not in the RO folder. The audio also works great it can pick up the smallest sounds like using your blinkers or if you are messing with something in your car (like getting change from the cup holder). As for the camera I would have like if there was flash, it is not a deal breaker but it would be a nice thing to add to the next version. Overall I am satisfied with this product. It looks nice and doesn’t attract a lot of attention if hidden behind rear-view mirror. It is light so you can carry it with you and treat it as a regular camera to document your adventures. Even though the camera is on the driver’s side I can still see the cars to my left and to my right. I may buy another one to mount on the back of my car.
