To allow exceptions for lmgrd.exe and tekla.exe on the license server computer: • Press the Windows logo key + R on your keyboard to show the Run dialog box, then type firewall.cpl and press Enter. • In the left pane, click Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall or Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall (depending on the operating system). • In Allowed programs or Allowed apps (depending on the operating system), click Change settings. Administrator permission is required. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter the password or confirm. But since I had to migrate it to Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 32 bits, I can't get it. Is this a known issue of lmgrd.intel.exe on Win 7? • Click Allow another program or Allow another app (depending on the operating system). • Click Browse to browse for the Server folder on the computer, select lmgrd.exe and click Open. By default, the path is. TeklaStructures License Server. • Click Add to add lmgrd.exe to the Allowed programs or Allowed apps and features list (depending on the operating system). • Select both Home/Work (Private) or Private (depending on the operating system) and Public check boxes next to lmgrd.exe. • Allow the exceptions also for tekla.exe by repeating the steps 4 – 7. • Click OK to confirm the changes. It can be either a server or workstation. • Low network traffic • Minimum recommended system RAM is 64 MB. • All potential Origin computers can connect to it. Communication between the FLEXnet license server and the Origin concurrent network members is by TCP/IP networking protocols. Install FLEXnet server • Flexera Software (the maker of FLEXnet license software) has recently announced that all FLEXnet servers should be updated to version 11.13.1.2 or later to avoid a security risk (see ). • Origin 2016 and higher Requires FlexLM Server verson 11.13 or higher in Windows. Otherwise Origin can't connect to it. On a New Machine If you are installing a FlexNet Server on a new machine, then simply download the FLEXlmServerSetup.exe and install it. Or if you have Origin DVD, you can also install from there. ![]() Please DO NOT install it to C: Program Files or to your Desktop. • • It's supported in Windows Server 2012, 2008, Windows Vista, 7 and 8/8.1 & 10 (both 32 & 64-bit). Updating Existing FlexLM License Server For security reasons you must upgrade your FLEXnet server to version 11.13.1.2 or later. And it should not be under Program Files folder or Desktop. So we recommend uninstall your old FLEXnet Server installation and then install the new version. To Remove your old OriginLab FLEXnet Server: • Go to your old FLEXnet server folder, find your license file, and make a backup since you will need it when you start the new server. • Run LMTOOLS.exe and go to the Start/Stop/Reread tab. Check Force Server Shutdown checkbox and click Stop Server. • Wait a moment for the server to shut down. You can check Server Status to see if it is shut down. • Next, go to the Config Services tab, select your OriginLab license Service Name, and click Remove Service. You may close LMTOOLS.exe now. • Now uninstall the Originlab FLEXlm server by going to the Windows Control Panel, then find the program named 'License Server for OriginLab' and run it. It will uninstall the old OriginLab FLEXnet server files. • Clean up the old folder if it still exists. It may contain your license file or log files, for instance. Notes: • If your existing FLEXnet Server isn't in the Program Files folder or on the Desktop and you don't want to do a fresh install, you can replace the lmgrd.exe', ' orglab.exe and ' lmtools.exe with those in the zip files below. • The 32-bit FLEXlm License Server should work for 64-bit Windows. • • Additional FLEXnet platforms that OriginLab does not currently support can be found on Flexera Software's requirements page. Contact OriginLab Technical Support to request adding support for a platform: Obtain a license file from Originlab.com for FLEXnet Server computer Find the FLEXnet server Host Name and Host ID • If you have installed FLEXNet Server, go to the installed location. Under Tools folder, run LMTools.exe. • Make note of the Computer/Hostname and Ethernet Address on the System Settings tab. • Or open the Command Prompt and enter the command: ipconfig /all Make note of the Host Name and the Physical Address (also known as MAC Address or Ethernet Address).
